Atkins Induction Friendly Favorites

Lindsey Pennington - Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Sometimes when you are first starting your weight loss journey it helps to see what someone else ate during that time. I made a list of my Favorite Induction Friendly Food for you to see.  I still eat pretty close to this list, but every now and then I add in some more low carb variety like Dreamfields Low Carb Pasta, Low Carb Bread, Low Carb Tortillas, etc. Hope this is helpful! :-)

Sugarless deLite

Lindsey Pennington - Friday, January 15, 2010

Today while I was out driving and picking something up for work, I drove by a store called Sugarless deLite and saw a big sign on the window that said LOW CARB. I couldn't resist, so I walked right.  I was greeted by the owner and I told him that I was there to see all of the low carb products that they carried.  To my surprise he not only showed me everything, he let me sample everything before I bought it.  It was such a great experience!  I'm so glad that I found a physical store where I can go buy low carb products! I wish every city had one of these stores!  If I try anything that I think is amazing, I'll let you know because you can also purchase the low carb products online.  Do you have any low carb stores in your city?  If not, what is your favorite online low carb store?

Zero Carb Bagels

Lindsey Pennington - Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Are you wanting some variety in your low carb lifestyle? I recently bought some Zero Carb Bagels from this online store called LoCarbU and they were really good! They have a variety of flavors too. I bought the Plain, Garlic, and Cinnamon Bagels. I had forgotten how much I love bagels and cream cheese. :-) Locarbu has a large selection of low carb food, so please check it out and let me know if you try anything out.

Goodbye Metabolic Resistance, Hello Weight Loss

Lindsey Pennington - Thursday, January 07, 2010
Happy Low Carb Thursday! :-) I woke up this morning and weighed and was so excited to see that I have lost a total of 5 pounds in 3 days.  I gained 4 pounds over the holidays, so it's great to lose that weight and an extra pound.  I'm going to do the "Fat Fat" for it least one more day, maybe more.  I've lost 29lbs total in 7 months by eating low carb!  I'm living low carb and loving it!  Goodbye Metabolic Resistance, Hello Weight Loss!

New Low Carb Approach: Atkins Fat Fast

Lindsey Pennington - Thursday, January 07, 2010
"When one approach is not working to reach the desired goal, that's not a reason to abandon the goal.  Instead, it is time to devise another approach." -Ralph Marston

This quote is what motivated me to take that step to try a different low carb, weight loss approach.   Because I have hypothyroidism, weight loss can seem daunting at times, but it’s not hopeless.   As I’ve said many times before, this is my weight loss journey with no ending.  Once I reach my goal than I’m on a journey to maintain my weight.  Every body is different and different approaches work for different people.  Don’t lose hope and quit if your current plan is not working, take it and make it work.

For me I know low carb works best, but I’ve noticed the closer and closer I get to my goal the tougher and tougher it gets to reaching it.  It would be easy to lose hope and quit, but why throw away all of the hard work I’ve done in the last 7 months to only find that dark, anxious, depressed, overweight person that I never want to know or see again!  Quitting is not an option!  Don't ever let it become one!  I'm ready to find the new me and I know it's going to happen this year.  :-)  It can happen for you too!  Don't ever give up your hopes, goals, and dreams.  I believe in you and now it's time for you to believe in yourself!

Please share your story with me.  We are all in this weight loss journey together.  What keeps you motivated to reach your goal?  What changes have you had to make to stick to your healthy lifestyle?  Thanks for reading!  Please feel free to comment below.

Fat Fast

Lindsey Pennington - Sunday, January 03, 2010
It's the first week of the New Year so I'm going to do something new for a couple of days. I'm going to follow the "Fat Fast" for 3-4 days and than go right back to following the Induction Phase. The "Fat Fast" was created by Dr Atkins for people who struggle losing weight while even following a low carb lifestyle. My weight loss came off fast in the beginning but now I've hit a stall and I'm ready to break it. He recommended following it for 4-5 days to kick the body back into fat burning mode to promote weight loss, curbed appetite, and give positive lipolysis testing strips. I'm going to do it for 3-4 days and than go back to eating Induction friendly food. As stated in Dr Atkins' New Diet Revolution book: "The "Fat Fast" is a controlled carb program where you have to count calories. You eat 1000 calories a day with seventy-five to ninety percent fat." You eat 5x a day with each meal being around 200 calories. He lists some choices to eat during the "Fat Fast" in his book in Chapter 20 called Metabolic Resistance: Causes and Solutions. It's a new year and I'm ready to find the new me for good! I will let you know how the fat fast goes each day. What are you doing this week to start your New Year off right?
