Holiday Weight Gain?
Lindsey Root - Tuesday, December 01, 2009
My husband and I arrived back home in Dallas late Sunday night after spending most of the Thanksgiving week in Oklahoma with family. We had a wonderful time! I'm so thankful for all of the amazing people in my life. You bless my life and fill my heart with joy! It was sad to leave family and close friends, but it was so great to come home to our sweet puppies, Tucker and Ginger. They are the best dogs in the world! I'm very thankful for them too!
I'm excited to share that I somehow made it through the holiday without splurging or gaining any weight AT ALL! I thought it was going to be pretty tough, but for some reason it wasn't. I told myself that this is just like any other day. I'm used to eating low carb while everyone else eats whatever they want, so I didn't look at Thanksgiving day and differently. If you tell yourself something long enough, it's amazing how you truly start to believe it! LOL! Anyway, I'm glad to be back home in Dallas and excited to see what this month brings. I would love to be close to or at my goal weight by the end of the year, so I'm trying to see what I need to do to get there.
How was your Thanksgiving? What goals are you trying to achieve by the end of the year? Please feel free to comment below. I love hearing from you! :-)

The Day After
Lindsey Root - Friday, November 27, 2009
I
hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends! I know it can be tough sticking to your healthy lifestyle through the holidays so I hope you made it through smoothly. If you
ended up having a free day than don't beat yourself up about it. When I reach my
goal weight, I'm definitely going to enjoy some free days every now and
than too. One thing I'm so thankful for during this holiday especially is that most of my family is very supportive of my lowcarb lifestyle.
My husband recently started eating low carb with me too, so it has been an even more enjoyable journey having my best friend do it with me. I'm so thankful to have such an amazing husband! He tells me I'm beautiful everyday even when I feel fat and ugly! He has been so supportive and encouraging to me along my journey. He has my back and keeps me going when it gets tough or I get tempted. When you are trying to lose weight it is so important to find a strong support group that will keep you going when all you want to do is quit. It can be one person or a whole group. I promise it will help! You can do this! Don't give up! :-)

Happy Low Carb Thanksgiving
Lindsey Root - Thursday, November 26, 2009
It is tempting to have a free day today, but I'm going to stick to lowcarb. I would love to reach my goal weight by the end of the year. I have 19 more pounds to lose until I reach my goal. I've been eating lowcarb for 5 months and 3 weeks so far and have lost 26lbs total. It will be interesting getting through this carb loaded holiday without gaining weight, but I'm determined to do it. I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!!! Thank you for reading and commenting along my low carb journey! I appreciate you encouragement and support more than you know! Have a wonderful day! :-)
Day 14 of Induction
Lindsey Root - Sunday, November 01, 2009
It's
DAY 14, my last strict day of Induction. For lunch I had my favorite salad with turkey,
cheese, tomatoes, and artichoke hearts with a side of ranch dressing.
For dinner I had a bunless swiss cheeseburger topped with sauteed
mushrooms, a side of bacon, and a side salad with ranch dressing.
Yummy!
I'm so excited to tell you that I've lost 2 more pounds. I've lost 5lbs in 2 weeks following Induction again. The first week I lost 3lbs that I had gained from not having my thyroid medication and probably not watching my carb count as closely as I should. I went to the doctor and had my prescription filled and followed the Induction Phase as closely as possible and lost the 3lbs I had gained. The second week I lost 2 more pounds, which brings me to a total weight loss of 25lbs in 5 months and 3 weeks. Yay! I was so sad and frustrated that my weight had stalled for a whole month and a half, so I'm very happy to finally break the stall and lose more weight. Has your weight ever stalled? If so, how long? What did you do to break your stall? Please feel free to share your comments below. Thanks again for reading! :-)
Day 13 of Induction
Lindsey Root - Saturday, October 31, 2009
HAPPY LOW CARB HALLOWEEN!!!
It's DAY 13 of Induction and I'm sure you could almost guess what I eat everyday by now. LOL! For lunch I had my favorite salad with turkey, cheese, tomatoes, and artichoke hearts with a side of ranch dressing. For dinner I had a bunless cheeseburger topped with a fried egg and a side salad with cheese and a side of ranch dressing. If you ever get bored eating a plain bunless cheeseburger simply try adding the fried egg on top. It tastes incredible and it will keep your taste buds interested.

Day 12 of Induction
Lindsey Root - Friday, October 30, 2009
It's DAY 12 of induction, and it's gone by so quickly. For lunch I had an avocado salad with grilled chicken. For dinner I had a 9oz filet, sauteed mushrooms, and a house side topped with cheese and tomatoes with a side of ranch dressing. Almost 2 weeks of induction down!
Day 11 of Induction
Lindsey Root - Thursday, October 29, 2009
It's DAY 11 on Induction and for lunch I had a beef burrito minus the tortilla. For dinner I had a bunless cheeseburger with a side salad with ranch dressing.
Day 10 of Induction
Lindsey Root - Wednesday, October 28, 2009
This week my blog posts are going to be short and sweet because it's my last week of work. It's DAY 10 on Induction and for lunch I had my usual salad with turkey, tomatoes, cheese, and artichoke hearts with a side of ranch dressing and for dinner I had bacon and egg.
Day 9 of Induction
Lindsey Root - Tuesday, October 27, 2009
It's
DAY 9 on Induction. For lunch I had pot roast. For dinner I made a
"surprise casserole". It's a surprise because I grabbed whatever I had
in the fridge and threw it together. I think it's kind of like Beef
Stroganoff. I made the cream sauce from heavy whipping cream, sour
cream, cream cheese, and a hidden valley ranch packet. I combined the sauce with ground beef and spaghetti squash. It was pretty good!
Day 8 of Induction
Lindsey Root - Monday, October 26, 2009
It's
my 8th day on Induction and it's still going great. For lunch I had my typical house salad topped with
turkey, cheese, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and bacon with a side of
ranch. For dinner I I had a 9oz filet, sauteed mushrooms, and a house
salad with tomatoes, cheese, and a side of ranch. For a snack I had 2 slices of cheese. I'm going to be taking it easy on the exercise this week because I had to have a couple of dysplastic moles removed, so I'm looking forward to getting back to my exercise routine next week.
I feel so weird right now because this is my last week of working in the pharmaceutical industry. I think it's finally kicking in that I won't see most of these people ever again and it makes me sad. One thing I can tell you is that I am excited to work in a job that I feel valued and where I'm able to use my gifts and abilities. I feel like it's so easy to lose who you truly are when you are having someone tell you who to be and who not to be all of the time. I'm just excited to be me and that be enough! Never change yourself to fit a job, find a job that fits you. I hope you had a wonderful Low Carb Monday!
